According to a recent report from Grand View Research, the global private 5G network market was valued at $1.61 billion in 2022 and is predicted to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 51.2 percent from 2023 to 2030. In fact, Nokia recently announced that in the fourth quarter of 2022, it increased new customer adoption of private networks by 50 percent over the previous quarter. As a result, the company now sees private LTE and 5G as an important growth engine for the business. Ericsson has also stated strong growth from its enterprise division, further demonstrating revenue opportunities for the broader industry.

Indeed, results from a survey conducted by Nokia and U.K.-based consultancy GlobalData confirm that enterprises are beginning to see significant benefits from private wireless networks. “More than half of the survey respondents have seen cost reductions since introducing the technology and over 79 percent have seen or would expect to see a return on investment (ROI) within six months,” Nokia said in announcing the results. The survey also found that cybersecurity and business efficiency were key transformation drivers for early adopters of private wireless.

Private 5G Presents Synergist Opportunities for Enterprises and Carriers

Private 5G offers some important opportunities for enterprises and communications service providers (CSPs) to work together, bringing critical initiatives to the marketplace such as network slicing, Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) spectrum, and other promising service offerings. These emerging 5G services will present new business advantages for enterprises, while at the same time creating vital revenue streams for CSPs.

To make this collaboration successful, enterprises and CSPs will need end-through-end visibility across complex networks and cloud environments to ensure that performance and security meet service level agreements (SLAs). Such visibility will be needed to deliver 24/7 support and enable the high degree of automation required to meet new business demands.
