How to Enable the Unstoppable Enterprise

Disruptions are a fact of life. You need a secure, high-performing enterprise network to respond quickly and effectively.

Think about the unstoppable enterprise for a moment.

Power, lights, water, and utilities are operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Energy production and distribution are unstoppable.

There isn’t a nanosecond that goes by that somewhere in the world texts, phone calls, emails, and social media posts are happening. Communications are unstoppable.

Banking, via ATM machines and online and mobile applications, happen every minute of every day, from anywhere in the world. Banking is unstoppable.

Patient care, telemedicine, hospitals, and emergency services for virtually any medical incident are available 24 hours a day, all year long. Healthcare is unstoppable.

If you need a prescription, there is a 24-hour pharmacy you can use; if you need groceries, there are supermarkets open 24 hours a day, and anything can be purchased, on-line, at any time. Retail is unstoppable.

Hungry? Fast-food restaurants and delivery services, any time of the day and night, will satisfy that craving. Restaurants are unstoppable.

So too are hotels, transportation, manufacturing operations, and police and fire protection. Even remote learning universities are available or operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They are all unstoppable.

Disrupting Disruptions

The ability to maintain an unstoppable enterprise is largely tied to the digitally transformed modern enterprise environments that keep applications running and quality end-user experience high. And, in a blink of an eye, all of these can easily come to a screeching halt if their modern digital IT environment experiences a performance or security incident. Lights go out, purchases and revenue are impacted, patient care is dangerously slowed, and manufacturing assembly lines stop as production is stalled.

These disruptions affect customers, employees, and businesses every time such an incident occurs, and the ramifications become more significant the longer the disruption lasts. Today’s complex distributed digital IT environments have improved application delivery and the variety of services available. But they also have increased both the security threat landscape and the number and variety of performance and security incidents that can occur.

The fact is that networks and applications will have disruptions: This is not an “if” situation—it is a “when.” The ability to respond quickly and effectively with a platform that provides visibility and analysis into any incident, the means to identify it as performance or security related, and logical workflows to pinpoint the true source and restore network and application performance and availability are essential for avoiding the potential for broad, wide-reaching, potentially catastrophic outages.
