The Opportunity
A large telecommunications service provider in Western Europe, which in 2019 achieved revenue of over 8 billion of which 25% came from their enterprise customers, realized that many of their customers were observing increases in network traffic due to a growing number of employees working from home as a result of the Coronavirus.
The Details
This organization offers a bundled communication service to its enterprise customers with security being a major component of the bundle. With the arrival of the COVID-19 Pandemic to Europe, some of their enterprise customers were expressing concern over the potential increase of their threat landscape because of the increase in devices connecting to their networks via VPN. This increase was a direct result of employees working from home and connecting to internal applications within the networks. To alleviate the customer’s concerns, the company decided to increase their threat management and mitigation ability by increasing their AED-2600 capacity from 2G to 10G. With the help of the local NETSCOUT® sales team, and using the AED-embedded software licensing technology, they easily upgraded their licenses.
The Results
The increased DDoS management and mitigation capacity provides the organization and their employees confidence that they will be protected from DDoS attacks that can disrupt their business activity and even damage the organization’s reputation while temporarily working from home. The organization was satisfied with the flexibility of the AED license configuration and the ability of NETSCOUT to execute on a global procurement effort quickly and to the organization’s crisis timeline.
