There are several basic protocols essential for the operation of application services in all networks, regardless of the type of business they provide. These protocols enable other applications to deliver specific services to the company or government agency, making it possible for web services to run smoothly, for remote workers to be granted access to corporate resources quickly, and for employees to use internet of things devices (IoT) seamlessly. These protocols are known as service enablers and their availability and performance are critical to ensure quality user experience with many application services. Enabling services—such as Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Lightweight Data Access Protocol (LDAP), Active Directory (AD), Domain Name System (DNS), and others—are essential for all networks used by all organizations. This use case will illustrate the importance of NETSCOUT visibility to troubleshoot one of these protocols, DNS, when issues arise.
