What is the Threat Intelligence Gateway (TIG)?

High-scale, high-efficiency blocking of known threats at the perimeter, based on reputation: IP/Proto/Port, Domain, URL, TLS cert / JA3. High-scale, high-efficiency blocking of known threats at the perimeter, based on reputation: IP/Proto/Port, Domain, URL, TLS cert / JA3. A TIG can consumed and enforce 4+ million Indicators in memory with line-rate performance at 10Gbps+ TIGs are purpose-built devices, with a stateless approach to filtering a stream of traffic. They use intelligence about known threats to make a first-pass triage to filter out threats that can be dealt with automatically. This frees up other security assets (e.g. NGFW), people, and resources to tackle more complex threats. Examples of TIP vendors include Bandura, Centrepedal, Ixia. NETSCOUT Arbor Edge Defense has TIG-like functionality.

What is the Threat Intelligence Platform (TIP)?

A packaged product that integrates with existing tools and products, presenting a threat intelligence management system that automates and simplifies much of the work analysts have traditionally done themselves.

What is the Threat Management System (TMS)?

Threat Management System surgically removes DDoS attack traffic from networks without disrupting key network services. It also provides comprehensive, real-time visibility into network applications allowing companies to proactively monitor and maintain service performance.

What is a Threshold?

A value that sets the limit between normal and abnormal behavior.

What is TLS?

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol that provides end-to-end communications security over networks and is widely used for internet communications and online transactions. TLS is the successor protocol to SSL.

What is Triangulation?

Identifying the physical location of a detected threat against a wireless network by estimating the threat’s approximate distance from multiple wireless sensors by the strength of the threat’s signal received by each sensor, then calculating the physical location at which the threat would be the estimated distance from each sensor.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month
