NETSCOUT ACHIEVES FIPS 140-2 CERTIFICATION

Company’s Security Solutions Achieve Major Cryptographic Milestone Receiving NIST Security Validation for Federal Government Networks

WESTFORD, Mass. – September 24, 2019 – NETSCOUT SYSTEMS, INC, (NASDAQ: NTCT), a market leader in service assurance, security, and business analytics, today announced that it has achieved Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 (FIPS 140-2) security certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for its NETSCOUT Arbor™ Threat Analytics (ATA), NETSCOUT Arbor Edge Defense™ (AED),NETSCOUT Arbor Availability Protection System (APS),nGeniusONE™, nGeniusONE for Flows, nGeniusPULSE™ solutions and multiple InfiniStreamNG™ offerings.

FIPS 140-2 is a computer security standard that was instituted to protect sensitive, but unclassified U.S. government information. It helps ensure that the highest standards are met to address the security needs of the toughest Federal government environments. As government agencies actively modernize their network security infrastructure, accelerate cloud capabilities, and aggressively defend against cyber-attacks, this certification is critical. It has also become table stakes for many large enterprises and services providers in data-sensitive sectors like healthcare and financial services.

“We have a long, trusted history of working with government agencies to provide powerful, robust solutions that enable network visibility for the most demanding environments,” stated Paul Barrett, CTO, Enterprise, NETSCOUT. “We’re pleased that we have secured NIST FIPS 140-2 certification to deliver proactive, automated detection and mitigation solutions designed to thwart known and emerging threats before they impact service or application availability.”

During the FIPS 140-2 certification process, cryptographic modules are subject to rigorous functional, logical, and algorithmic testing by an independent cryptographic and security testing laboratory. The validation process for NETSCOUT’s ATA, AED, APS, nGeniusONE, nGeniusONE for Flows, nGeniusPULSE and InfiniStreamNG offerings was performed by Booz Allen Hamilton Common Criteria Testing Laboratory.

FIPS 140-2 validation is required by U.S. law when information systems use cryptography to protect sensitive government information. Of all the companies that provide network perimeters to block inbound cyber threats and malicious outbound communications, NETSCOUT is one of the few to have secured this validation.
