Taking the Exam

Each exam challenges candidates to apply the specific knowledge they acquired through Sniffer University® training and/or job experience. nGenius certification exams are comprised of 50 to 75 multiple-choice questions. Each exam requires one to two hours to complete. Some questions may be multiple-choice-multiple answer formats. Credit is not awarded for partial answers.

To help candidates prepare for the exams, Sniffer University offers instructor-led training courses on all topics tested in the certification program. Experience working with NetScout products, coupled with training can help you prepare for an exam.

Candidates may attempt each exam up to three times in a twelve-month period, waiting a minimum of two weeks between attempts. Exam forms will vary for retake examinations.

Presently, nGenius certifications do not expire. This policy is reviewed periodically and may change in the future. Any change in this policy will be communicated on this website.

With the integration of NetScout and Network General now complete, Sniffer University would like to assure all SCPs, SCEs and SCMs that your certification credentials and personal achievement will continue to be recognized. As training and certification offerings are enhanced, Sniffer University would like to extend the invitation to anyone that certified under the SCPP program to attend our TRN-192-TCL course and complete the nGenius Certified Professional requirement of the new program to update your certification credentials.

Upon successful completion of the nCP certification, NetScout would be pleased to issue an updated nGenius certification designation as it is appropriate to each individual candidate. For example, if you completed the coursework and examination(s) to achieve SCP, SCE or SCM status under the Sniffer Certified Professional Program, successful completion of the TRN-192 course and nCP examination would enable you to update your credentials to include the nGenius brand – e.g. nCP, nCE, nCM. Upon achieving nGenius Certification, you’ll receive access to nGenius Certification logos and certificates, enabling you to identify your nGenius Certification status within six weeks of passing an exam.

If you are between credential levels (for example, if you just passed the second test on your way to becoming a nGenius Certified Expert), you will not receive any other notification other you’re your passing score. If you have questions about your certificate and/or nGenius certification logo, please contact snifferu@netscout.com and provide your name, address and test date along with your inquiry.

The cost associated with all nGenius exams is included within the course registration fees. Individuals attending a Sniffer University training course are eligible to register for the exam associated with the course they’ve successfully completed by contacting the registrar at snifferu@netscout.com.

In the U.S. and Canada, individuals may register for certification exams by calling the Sniffer University Registrar at 1-866-SnifferU (866-764-3337) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CST. Outside of the United States and Canada, please contact Sniffer University via email at snifferu@netscout.com to complete your registration.
