Sniffer® Certification Exams

Here is a list of commonly asked questions about Sniffer Certification Exams:

What are the exams like?
Each exam challenges candidates to apply the specific knowledge they acquired through Sniffer University® training and/or job experience. Computer-based in format, the certification exams are comprised of approximately 50 to 75 multiple-choice questions. Each exam requires one to two hours to complete. Some questions may be multiple choice-multiple answer formats. Credit is not awarded for partial answers.

To assure your feedback, Sniffer Certification exams include a feature that allows candidates to comment on specific test questions. Your opinions are important to us, and are a critical component of the test development process.

How can I prepare for an exam?

To help candidates prepare for the exams, Sniffer University offers instructor-led training courses on all of the topics tested in the certification program. Experience working with NetScout products, coupled with training and test preparation, can help you prepare for an exam. We have provided exam guides, and production documentation on this site to aid your test preparation efforts.

What is the fee for taking an exam in the US and Canada?

In the United States and Canada, the cost associated with all exams is $100 US. Certification exam prices are subject to change. In other countries, different pricing and additional taxes apply. Please contact the Prometric Regional Service Center in your country for exact worldwide pricing information.

May I retake an exam?

Candidates may attempt each exam up to three times in a twelve-month period, waiting a minimum of two weeks between attempts. Exam forms will vary for retake examinations. The expense associated with retaking an exam is not discounted. Exams that do not comply with the retake examination policy will be considered invalid and will not be eligible for a refund.

When will I receive my certificate and logo?

Within six weeks of passing an exam, Sniffer Certification Program candidates in the United States and Canada can expect to receive their SCP Welcome Kit. Candidates located outside North America can expect to receive their welcome kit within ten weeks of passing an exam. The welcome kit will include the corresponding certificate, logo usage guidelines, and other items.

If you are between credential levels (for example, if you just passed the second test on your way to becoming a Sniffer Certified Expert), you will not receive any notification other than your passing score at the Prometric Testing Center. If you have questions about your welcome kit, please contact snifferu@netscout.com and provide your name, address, social security or Prometric ID number, test date and location info, along with your inquiry.

How frequently do I need to recertify?

Presently SCPP certifications do not expire. This policy is reviewed periodically and may change in the future. Any change in this policy will be communicated on this website.
