Day 1

Module 1 - nGenius Performance Manager and Data Sources

Data sources, especially NetScout probes, provide performance data and visibility into enterprise-wide networks. Data sources serve as the foundation for all real-time and historical data used to proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and manage enterprise-level networks. This module provides an overview of nGenius Performance Manager and the data sources within the network.

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Identify nGenius Performance Manager components and capabilities
  • Understand how nGenius Performance Manager operates within the network
  • Summarize the types of data sources available in the network

Module 2 - Getting Started with nGenius Performance Manager

An overall understanding of nGenius Performance Manager and its functions will benefit students that are new to the product, as well as those that work closely with nGenius Performance Manager Administrators. This module provides a complete high-level overview including a brief review of the administrative tasks required to configure and manage the nGenius Server.

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Successfully access nGenius Performance Manager and navigate the nGenius Home Page
  • Summarize important administrative tasks (global administrators)
  • Navigate the Performance Manager Console
  • Launch views to monitor and analyze network performance data
  • Generate an on-demand Ad Hoc report
  • View and navigate NewsPaper-style reports

Module 3 - Working with Performance Manager Console Views

A familiarity with the various Performance Manager Console views is essential for quick and effective problem resolution. This module is designed to help students recognize the value and breadth of real-time and historical performance data available within the Performance Manager Console.

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Identify key view attributes
  • Display real-time and historical data
  • Differntiate between snpashot and over time views
  • Change view resolution, drill down on a single data point, change metrics, etc.
