NetScout Systems has partnered with Riverbed Technology to provide users with granular visibility into application and network performance on WAN links instrumented with Steelhead appliances. While many WAN optimization and application acceleration technologies reduce visibility, this partnership has enabled nGenius Performance Manager users to maintain visibility while benefitting from Riverbed’s Steelhead appliances.
Deploying the combined NetScout and Riverbed solution allows users to not only take advantage of industry-leading application acceleration technology, but to do so without any loss of ability to both proactively and reactively manage network and application performance. NetScout has extended its nGenius Performance Management system to support the signaling protocol used among Steelhead appliances. This allows enterprises to collect the same detailed information about the impact and performance of Steelhead appliances as well as take advantage of enterprise-wide visibility. Enterprises benefit from using the nGenius Performance Management system with Riverbed Steelhead appliances including across the following:
- Utilize network and application visibility to identify applications and WAN links in need of acceleration and optimization
- Perform a pre-deployment baseline and use post-implementation visibility to verify an improvement from deploying Steelhead appliances and quantify a return on the investment
- Maintain visibility into application and network performance across the Steelhead implementation in order to identify a degradation in acceleration and optimization
- Conduct network and application analysis by taking advantage of end-to-end visibility into performance
