Sniffer Global Analyzer - What's New in Version 3.1
| Integration with Cisco® 3300 Series Mobility Services Engine |
Wireless users and devices are always in motion and this makes the process of pinpointing problems with wireless clients and devices even more challenging than with wired networks.
Sniffer Global 3.1 integrates with Cisco 3300 Series Mobility Services Engine (MSE) to enable users to map the physical location of wireless devices in context with relevant wireless network and application performance metrics. This location-based visibility facilitates dramatically faster identification and diagnosis of network and service performance issues in wireless environments.
- The new Location Tracking functionality enables a Sniffer Global Application user to select a wireless device of interest from any of the monitoring views (Host Table, Matrix, Expert, and Decode) and locate it on a physical map. This feature accelerates the identification of the location of wireless devices creating or experiencing performance issues, shortening the resolution process.
- For consistency in definitions across product lines, discovered wireless devices are identified as “Known,” “Rogue,” or “Friend” in accordance with the configuration of the Cisco MSE.
- Sniffer Global Server can control the Location Tracking functionality through user profiles and can provide access to users for specific buildings or floors only.
- Other new features in Sniffer Global Server include:
- Support for licensing of Sniffer Global Server based on MAC address.
- Installation of software in non-standard path & disk drives.
- Access to Sniffer Global Server by host name (in addition to IP address).
