NETSCOUT Announces VoIP Performance and Availability Monitoring in TruView™ Live with Synthetic VoIP Testing

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – January 19, 2016 NETSCOUT SYSTEMS, INC. (NASDAQ: NTCT), a market leader in service assurance and cybersecurity solutions, today announced that TruView Live, its Software as a Service (SaaS) network monitoring service, now allows network managers and telecomm teams to proactively observe the availability and quality of their company’s Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service. VoIP monitoring is the latest capability to help enterprises ensure the readiness of their on-premise and cloud network services to support business-critical operations. With TruView Live, IT teams gain complete visibility to pinpoint and resolve problems rapidly, ensuring their organizations realize the full value of cloud services. TruView Live monitors VoIP services, SaaS, on site, and hybrid applications.

Adoption of VoIP is rapidly increasing in global enterprises that are eager to experience the benefits of IP communications, including cost savings, extended communication capabilities, consistency of user experience across multiple locations, and integration. However, quality and availability of VoIP services, especially hosted VoIP, can be inconsistent and identifying potential lapses is challenging.

TruView Live makes it easy for IT managers to routinely and continuously test the quality and availability of VoIP capabilities and offers a dashboard that tracks testing results. VoIP monitoring is the latest capability to be offered under the TruView Live cloud-based network monitoring service.

The new VoIP monitoring capability in TruView Live uses active, synthetic testing to let customers check their SIP-based VOIP systems for call availability (“can I make a phone call?”) and call quality (“is the call quality good?”). To perform this check, TruView Live sets up network Pulses that act as a phone to place an actual phone call. During the call, TruView Live plays music, allowing the system to measure Mean Opinion Score (MOS), loss, latency, and jitter. IT managers can determine whether to set up the tests between two pulses or locations (a Pulse-to-Pulse call) or to an external number for their hosted or on premise VoIP system. Following testing, MOS test results are displayed in performance graphs and alerts are issued based on customer-specific thresholds.

TruView Live: Application Monitoring in the Cloud, for the Cloud

Announced in May, 2015, TruView Live is a scalable hosted subscription service that offers considerable flexibility and ease of use to help IT teams monitor their cloud services, including VoIP.
