NetScout Adds 18 New Service Provider Deployments; Reaches Number Three Position in Service Provider Market

Date: Thursday November 10, 2011

NetScout Continues to Redefine IP Service Delivery Management Enabling Operators to Address the Challenges of IP Service Quality and Subscriber Experience amid Growing Multimedia Subscriber Traffic

Westford, MA – November 10, 2011 – NetScout® Systems, Inc., today announced that an additional 18 service providers have deployed nGenius® Service Assurance Solution since December 2010 to assure both service quality and user experience and to accelerate the velocity of IP service delivery over their next-generation IP networks. With these new deployments, nGenius Service Assurance Solution is now deployed in 148 service provider production networks across 46 countries. Of these 18 service providers, ten are mobile operators, four are wireline operators, three are cable operators and one is a satellite operator. In addition to a number of common customers, three new service providers have been added as a result of the acquisition of Psytechnics in April 2011. These new deployments span 13 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Australia and Chile.

NetScout has seen tremendous growth within the service provider segment in the past three years and is deployed in active production networks of every wireless mobile operator in North America, and a significant number of tier-one operators across Europe, Asia and Latin America. In July 2011, leading industry analyst firm Analysys Mason ranked NetScout as the number three vendor in the combined legacy and IP-based probe-based service assurance market.  According to the Analysys Mason report, the company has risen from fifth place to third place in just three years.

“NetScout has a notable presence in the overall marketplace, and is a market leader in mobile wireless,” said Patrick Kelly, research director, Analysys Mason.  “NetScout was among the first to recognize the market’s potential, and has been building a strategic position with mobile operators from which it can grow. In CY 2010, NetScout increased their revenue at a higher rate than the total service assurance market growth and we believe they will continue to expand their footprint as operators continue to look at ways to address continued traffic growth and performance challenges.”

As service provider service delivery networks evolve to support rich media, entertainment and broadband services, business users and consumers have high expectations for their network experience and are demanding faster access with greater reliability and consistent service quality. NetScout provides a highly scalable unified service delivery management framework to deliver unprecedented real-time and historical analysis and reporting for complex multi-protocol IP networks.

“The nGenius Service Assurance Solution helps operators increase subscriber value through a better user experience and enables them to make better business decisions and improve the profitability of services delivered,” said Steven Shalita, vice president of marketing, NetScout.  “Today’s announcement demonstrates our increasing relevance and growing market traction as we continue to address the needs of wireless, wireline and cable network operators.  As service providers across the globe undertake strategic IP transformation projects to drive service innovation, 148 have selected NetScout to provide crucial visibility into subscribers, services and networks with more timely, unified and consistent information to predict and prevent performance problems to maximize subscriber value.”

Building on the company’s 27-year history of continued innovation and evolution of packet-flow technology, nGenius Service Assurance Solution captures, correlates and analyzes both data plane and control plane IP traffic to enable a granular understanding of the subscriber experience along with network, application and service performance to deliver the most pervasive view of an end-to-end IP service delivery environment. Widely deployed in mobile and fixed networks, the nGenius solution manages multi-generation IP networks ranging from 2.5G to 3G and LTE to IMS and VoIP from a single unified platform. This provides service providers with consistent views into performance allowing them to maximize their service management investments and better assure inter-domain subscriber experiences.
