The NetScout/Avaya Partnership
NetScout Systems, an Avaya Premier Devconnect Member, has recently completed compliance testing of the nGenius Performance Management Solution with Avaya's S8700 Media Server and S8300 Media Server running Avaya Communication Manager. This gives Avaya's and NetScout's mutual customers the ability to optimize the performance of all their converged voice, multimedia and data applications enterprise-wide. For Voice-over-IP, nGenius Performance Manager in combination with strategically deployed nGenius Probes collect and display the volume of RTP voice traffic and data application streams to understand how they impact network performance. In addition, NetScout tracks key VoIP call quality metrics with pertinent details on jitter, packet loss, call setup times and related QoS assignments. The nGenius Solution provides a flexible means to monitor custom protocols such as Avaya's IPSI, used to establish connections between Avaya G600 and S8700 VoIP devices. It also provides detailed statistics about the performance and availability of Avaya voice services. By having all these details in context with utilization, availability and responsiveness metrics for business applications, IT managers can quickly isolate and fix network, system, application and other types of problems before they impact end users.
