Network General Announces Sniffer Distributed 4.6

Newest Release of Enterprise Network Instrumentation Enhances Application Analysis Capabilities in High Performance Networks

SAN JOSE, CALIF., JULY 18, 2005 Network General Corporation, the global leader in enterprise network and application performance analysis, today announced the general availability of Sniffer Distributed 4.6 for the s4000 series and s6040 platforms. The latest release of Sniffer Distributed provides optional application-layer visibility within a Gigabit network environment.

The trend toward data center consolidation and the increasing deployment of bandwidth-intensive applications are driving the demand for greater performance in the core of the enterprise. As a result, IT organizations are rapidly deploying Gigabit technology in the core to ensure sufficient throughput and response time for users across the enterprise.  This creates a need for network instrumentation that can provide both network-layer and application-layer visibility and analysis of all critical traffic within the Gigibit core network.  Network General is meeting this growing market demand with the new Sniffer Distributed solution.
