Network General Training Program Empowers IT Professionals with Skills To Optimize Network and Application Performance

Sniffer Certification Program Accredits IT Professionals With Troubleshooting Expertise to Protect and Optimize Networks Across the Extended Enterprise

SAN JOSE, CALIF., June 7, 2005 Network General Corporation, the global leader in enterprise network and application performance management, today introduced its enhanced Sniffer Certified Professional Program (SCPP). With companies at risk of losing millions of dollars to network and application downtime, IT professionals skilled in network and application performance management are in high demand. The SCPP helps meet the need for these skilled professionals with its new qualifying exams which provide a reliable measurement of an individual's knowledge of networking technologies and Network General products.

"IT professionals who hold the SCPP credential are capable of handling some of the most taxing application and networking issues and resolving them in a timely manner," said Randy Williams of InterNet Consulting Corporation. "Proper education, certification and continuous training are essential requirements for handling the challenges that IT professionals in charge of managing an enterprise network run into each day."

The Sniffer Certified Professional Program used proven psychometric processes to create quality tests targeted at IT professionals with in-depth knowledge and significant hands-on experience with Network General's solutions. Each exam tests objectives and content that maps to Sniffer University's existing curriculum ensuring clear learning paths between product and technology emphasis areas.

The SCPP consists of three levels of certification Professional, Expert and Master. The Professional level is designed to test an IT professional's knowledge of the Sniffer network analysis solutions. To reach the Expert and Master levels, an individual must first be certified at the Professional level, then be tested on various networking technologies, including applications, WANs, TCP/IP and switched Ethernet networks, among others.

"Being certified by the Sniffer Certified Professional Program enables IT professionals increase individual and workgroup productivity levels, helps managers identify the most qualified technical professionals, and aids in defining employee skills development and training paths," said Ethan Thorman, vice president of Worldwide Services at Network General. "The SCPP highlights Network General's commitment to address an industry-wide need for qualified IT professionals who plan, deploy, troubleshoot and analyze the business critical applications running on today's high-speed networks."
