Network General Offers Enhanced Real-World Training To Address Growing Focus on Application Performance Issues
SAN JOSE, CALIF., February 14, 2005 Network General Corporation, the pioneer and global leader in enterprise application and network performance analysis, today announced the offering of a more hands-on Sniffer University curriculum designed to address the key challenges faced by IT professionals when troubleshooting and proactively managing their networks. The new and updated courses provide real-world training on how to effectively gauge and assure the performance of enterprise applications and networks.
"We are very excited about Sniffer University's new initiative to improve and expand their curriculum. Sniffer University has become a recognized brand in the network performance training arena, and we anticipate the new course releases will bring their expertise to the next level," said Franklin Mills, senior network performance engineer for Evigi Technologies. "It is highly rewarding to be working with a company that clearly understands the value that education and awareness bring to their product offerings."
New Sniffer University courses include:
- Application Performance Analysis and Troubleshooting In this two-day, hands-on course, participants learn how to apply state-of-the-art application profiling and baselining techniques to explore the most common network bottlenecks, measure application performance, and identify application-related problems that impact overall application performance.
- Troubleshooting with the Sniffer Portable Network Analyzer This three-day, hands-on course focuses on effective troubleshooting and interpretation of protocol data presented with Sniffer Portable. Best practices and tips are presented throughout the class and emphasis is placed on understanding events in each OSI layer including the application layer.
Two of Sniffer University's most popular advanced courses have been upgraded:
- Microsoft Windows Analysis and Troubleshooting This five-day class provides an in-depth look at how to troubleshoot real-world Microsoft Windows network problems, and now includes analysis of major security issues.
- TCP/IP Analysis and Troubleshooting This five-day course examines TCP/IP and the associated application protocols using the Sniffer Portable network analyzer. An increased emphasis is placed on real-world analysis and troubleshooting.
"Sniffer University provides the quality, subjective training experience desired by employers and individuals alike," said Ethan Thorman, vice president of Worldwide Services at Network General. "The curriculum is heavily focused on providing maximum hands-on lab time with balanced traditional teaching techniques. Our instructors are recruited for their understanding and knowledge of the subject matter as well as for their ability to effectively instruct. As a result, Sniffer University students walk away with the essential knowledge and expertise necessary to optimize their application and network efficiency. Our goal is to maximize their return on investment."
