NetScout Hosts Energy Summit for Local Massachusetts Companies

NetScout and Competitive Energy Services Share Success Stories and
Best Practices for Curbing Energy Use and Reducing Costs

WESTFORD, Mass. —May 6, 2009—NetScout Systems today announced that on May 13, 2009, it will host an energy summit for businesses and municipalities interested in reducing annual energy expenditures and reducing power consumption. At the summit, local organizations will speak, sharing best practices and strategies. The event, organized in conjunction with Competitive Energy Services (CES), takes place from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at the NetScout headquarters in Westford, Massachusetts and will feature speakers from NetScout, Competitive Energy Services, BCM Controls Corporation, Dell and National Grid.

The Energy Summit sessions are designed to teach participants how to be smarter energy consumers and develop strategies that could result in savings of up to 50 percent on energy costs for 2010. Speakers will focus on various themes including strategies for reducing procurement costs, options for reducing energy consumption now and in the future, and opportunities for introducing renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind, into an energy procurement strategy.

NetScout will share its progress working in tandem with CES in developing and implementing strategies for energy procurement programs that conserve power, reduce costs and advance towards the company’s environmental goals. CES will explain how to reduce energy procurement costs and will speak about energy opportunities available to businesses including procurement of renewable energy credits, carbon offsets and efficiency services.

Reducing costs and consumption on the energy demand side will also be the focus of a few speakers, including BCM Controls and Dell. A key session of the program will outline how NetScout, working with BCM was able to re-engineer and integrate its heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems to act in concert. The NetScout HVAC systems now operate considerably more efficiently, conserve energy and reduce operating costs. Dell Computer will continue this theme by sharing ways to green the data center – from introducing energy efficiency and power management programs to enhancing recycling programs and National Grid will outline incentive programs which are aimed at encouraging businesses to choose more efficient options when undertaking new construction, and making efficiency improvements to existing buildings more affordable.

“The need for energy conservation makes sense on both business and environmental levels, and NetScout is committed to saving resources and reducing its environmental footprint. The company is working on several initiatives that will help NetScout save energy, reduce carbon emissions, and at the same time reduce operating costs,” said Tracy Steele, vice president of manufacturing and business operations, NetScout Systems. “By hosting the energy summit, NetScout is able to team with the New England business community and learn from each other’s successes.”
