NETSCOUT RECEIVES COMPUTERWORLD HORIZON AWARD FOR PROGRESSIVE ANALYTICS TECHNOLOGY

Panel of Independent CIOs Recognizes NetScout’s Pioneering Analytics Technology for Automated Network and Application Performance Management

Westford, MA – September 13, 2005 – NetScout Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTCT), a leading provider of network and application performance management solutions, today announced that IDG’s Computerworld, one of the foremost IT industry newspapers, selected NetScout, as a winner of its first annual Horizon Awards for cutting-edge technologies. A group of independent CIOs selected NetScout’s Progressive Analytics™ technology from hundreds of submissions.

“The Horizon Award winners represent the most innovative, promising new technologies with the potential to significantly impact both consumers and enterprises in the coming years,” said Don Tennant, editor in chief of Computerworld. “NetScout’s Progressive Analytics technology was chosen for its power to automate network and application performance management and its ability to have a direct, positive impact on business operations.”

NetScout’s Progressive Analytics technology automates the process of detecting and diagnosing application and network performance problems before they impact critical business services. The patent-pending technology uses real time performance metrics to establish statistically expected behavior values using advanced modeling and analytics. For IT operations staff, the outcome is fewer, more reliable alarms accompanied by actionable diagnostic results, helping them to reduce the mean-time-to-repair of network and application performance problems, protect IT service quality, and improve IT productivity. Correspondingly, the broader enterprise or government organization obtains better business service dependability and responsiveness.

“Coming from a group of independent CIOs and one of the leading publications in our industry, this recognition underscores the demand for automated management to improve the performance of enterprise applications,” said Ashwani Singhal, vice president of research and development at NetScout. “Shortening the problem lifecycle is a constant struggle for IT operations groups. The intelligent anomaly detection and diagnostic capabilities of our Progressive Analytics technology are a determined step towards resolving network and application problems before they impact business services.”

The Horizon Award winners were profiled in a special report in the September 12 issue of Computerworld. See NetScout’s profile online at: http://www.computerworld.com/softwaretopics/software/story/0,10801,104471,00.html.

About the Horizon Awards
