(NASDAQ:NTCT), a leading provider of business-oriented network management solutions, today announced the release of WebCast 3.1, a web-based reporting solution for application and network performance. WebCast 3.1 features executive-level newspaper-style reports that provide IT managers with strategic insight into network usage patterns. As the primary component of NetScout's capacity management solution, WebCast 3.1 delivers the metrics needed to optimize performance and plan strategically for the enterprise network.
"As companies roll-out their e-business initiatives, WebCast 3.1 delivers the critical information they need to ensure the network infrastructure can support the fast-paced demands of the business," said Michael Szabados, vice president of marketing, NetScout Systems, Inc. Its unique newspaper-style reports give IT and executive management a shared perspective to assess resource upgrade requirements. These reports deliver a comprehensive view of aggregated traffic flows from multiple source points, providing the critical information needed to optimize application performance and track usage patterns. By highlighting exceptions, WebCast 3.1 helps IT and senior executives to better understand and justify investment proposals and plan the capacity needed to support critical enterprise and e-business initiatives.
"We plan to use WebCast to report and distribute information on our network utilization," said Steve Blase, telecommunications analyst, General American Life Insurance. "We are excited about the new WebCast 3.1 because its out-of-the box, pre-configured reports will save us time and provide easier access to our critical network information."
"WebCast 3.1 quickly provides the information necessary for optimizing network performance," said John Wilson, network and professional services engineer, Enterprising Service Solutions Company. "Its easy-to-use newspaper-style reports facilitate information distribution and allow us to more easily justify the need for additional bandwidth."
WebCast 3.1 delivers critical information on which applications are consuming bandwidth, to help network managers better prepare for a wide variety of decision-making situations including:
-- Optimizing infrastructure to handle anticipated spikes in e-commerce demand
-- Maximizing an organization's ability to identify and respond to disruptive patterns in network behavior
-- Validating capital investments in network and application resources
-- Assessing the effectiveness of corporate policies regarding network utilization
"WebCast 3.1 provides the golden nuggets of information that organizations require when rolling out e-business solutions or other applications," said Mike McConnell, director of enterprise management and LAN programs, Infonetics Research, Inc. "This web-based solution offers users more than simple network management overviews and provides valuable data that can be used to ensure the network is performing to meet the demands of the business."
WebCast 3.1 features easy-to-use, pre-defined reports, which run "out-of-the-box" and can be accessed from any web browser. Pre-configured default settings and automatic identification segments of the top 10 over-utilized and under-utilized segments enable network planners to quickly identify where changes need to be made and why.
