White Paper Abstract: The Mandate to Implement Unified Performance Management

In most companies there is a gap between the needs of the Business Unit Managers and the perceived value of the services provided by the company's Information Technology (IT) organization in general, and the IT infrastructure organization in particular. This disconnect has a negative impact on both the performance of the Business Units as well as the perception of the IT function. This paper develops a set of ten "principles", the purpose of which is to both describe the factors that cause this gap, as well as to make concrete suggestions as to what the IT function can do to better market the value of IT.
